Joe K These are my first shemaghs. I've always been a little hesitant to purchase them because these items are sometimes associated with terrorists or terrorism. However, I've also heard that they perform very well for our fighting men and women, so here I am...

I was surprised (RE the ones I bought, which are the cheapest ones...) on how thin they appeared to be. The weave of the cotton is not as "tight" as I would have thought them to be - perhaps the more costly ones are made with a tighter weave? They do seem to be of good quality.

Just a heads-up - the ones I bought are 100% cotton, and made in India. Not a big deal, just wanted to let people know.

Also, they seemed to have a 'funny' smell to them (maybe some kind of cotton treatment?). Normal washing and drying (Gentle cycle or hand wash, and delicate heat dryer cycle) helped get rid of that. And a tip - save the cotton lint from the dryer for fire-starting tinder with your ferrocerium fire starting rod.

I plan on buying more. :-)
